About EUROCORE
EUROCORE is an educational data portal created to support ore exploration training and geological research. It provides access to detailed datasets collected from exploration drill cores, bringing together traditional core logs and information gathered using newer exploration technologies. Users can search geological descriptions, raw analytical results, images, and other records, then export tables and graphs in common spreadsheet and vector graphic formats for use in external applications.
The portal is part of the EIT RawMaterials-funded EUROCORE project, which aims to help mining companies and educators train students and industry personnel in innovative in situ exploration technologies. Its datasets are intended as teaching resources for geological master’s courses and can be combined with physical core collections to create realistic ore exploration workshops.
EUROCORE’s partners and data providers include Lorraine University, CREGU, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Geological Survey of Finland, Tallinn University of Technology, and the Technical University of Madrid. The Geological Survey of Finland and mining companies provide geological drill-core data, while Lorraine University supplies in situ field-device data and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft contributes CT data.
