European Biogas Association (EBA) was founded in February 2009 as a Belgian non-profit organisation aiming to promote the deployment of sustainable biogas production and use in Europe. This covers all energetic applications of biogas like heat, electricity and automotive fuel. EBA’s membership comprises national biogas associations, institutes and companies from over 20 countries all across Europe. The member associations cover the majority of producers, companies, consultants and researchers in the field of biogas within Europe. EBA’s strategy defines three priorities: establish biogas as an important part of Europe’s energy mix, promote source separation of household waste to increase the gas potential and support the production of biomethane as vehicle fuel.

About European Biogas Association
European Biogas Association (EBA) champions the use of biogas and biomethane as renewable gases crucial for achieving carbon-neutrality by 2050. Biogas, derived from organic materials through anaerobic digestion, contains methane and carbon dioxide used for various applications. Biomethane, an upgraded form, closely resembles natural gas and finds use in heating, power generation, and transportation.
Europe leads in biogas and biomethane production, vital for meeting renewable energy demands and climate goals. These renewable gases significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by preventing waste decomposition emissions, displacing fossil fuels, and promoting circular economy practices. Furthermore, biomethane's usage in transport significantly reduces GHG emissions, especially in hard-to-electrify sectors.
