About Association of European Cancer Leagues
The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is dedicated to enhancing cancer prevention and control across Europe. Central to their mission is the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC), a set of twelve scientific recommendations aimed at empowering individuals and families to reduce cancer risk. The ECAC’s guidance includes key actions such as avoiding tobacco, maintaining a healthy weight, engaging in regular physical activity, and adhering to a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Additionally, ECL promotes awareness of sun safety, encourages vaccination against cancer-related viruses, and advocates for participation in organized cancer screening programs.
ECL also supports various initiatives through its working groups, which focus on Prevention & Early Detection, Patient Support, and advocacy efforts for improved access to medicines. With a commitment to reduce cancer incidence and mortality, ECL collaborates with members and partners across Europe to promote public health and enhance cancer care. Their work is co-funded by the European Union under the EU4Health Programme, reinforcing their impact on cancer prevention throughout the continent.
