About European Championships
European Championships Management (ECM) is the organization responsible for the multi-sport European Championships. Founded by Paul Bristow and Marc Joerg, ECM coordinates and manages the event in collaboration with participating federations, host cities, and broadcast partners. Inspired by the success of the UEFA Champions League, Bristow and Joerg saw an opportunity to bring together high-profile sports under one umbrella.
The European Championships offer a unique experience by combining multiple sports into a single event. This format has proven to generate greater interest from both attendees and television audiences. The inaugural European Championships in Glasgow and Berlin in 2018 featured Aquatics, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing, and Triathlon in Scotland, with Athletics hosted in Berlin.
Munich 2022 will introduce new sports such as Beach Volleyball, Canoe Sprint, Sport Climbing, and Table Tennis to the existing lineup. ECM's expertise lies in managing and coordinating the championships to enhance media exposure and provide a consistent brand image. The team, led by experienced individuals like Paul Bristow and James Mulligan, ensures a seamless and engaging experience for spectators and athletes alike.
