About Everest Carbon
Everest is a climate technology company developing hardware and software to make Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) measurement accurate, affordable, and scalable. Founded by former ERW project developers, the company aims to help expand durable carbon removal by giving projects reliable evidence of their results.
Its flagship product, Pulsar, is a patent-pending sensor that measures cumulative carbonate alkalinity directly in the field. ERW accelerates natural rock weathering by spreading finely ground alkaline rocks on agricultural land. As the rocks react with carbonic acid in soil, they convert carbon dioxide into dissolved carbonate alkalinity, which can travel through groundwater toward the ocean for long-term storage.
Pulsar measures this alkalinity export in situ using a specialized ion-exchange resin, then digitizes and uploads data through an IoT-enabled system. This provides measurement histories that can help project developers trace carbon credits to their origin, reduce uncertainty, and avoid the expense and labor of frequent manual sampling and laboratory analysis.
