About Evangelisches Studienwerk e.V.
The Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst is the scholarship and talent-development organization of Germany’s Protestant churches. It supports more than 1,500 students and around 250 doctoral candidates across a wide range of academic disciplines at universities and universities of applied sciences. Since autumn 2024, a pilot project has also extended its support to people undertaking vocational training.
Alongside monthly scholarships, the organization offers a broad educational program designed to complement recipients’ studies and professional development. Activities include international study support, summer universities, academic conferences, career guidance, research opportunities, and gatherings for doctoral candidates. It also provides dedicated information and application pathways for students, doctoral candidates, and vocational trainees, including people with refugee experience.
Based in Schwerte, the Evangelisches Studienwerk brings its community together through events, regional groups, alumni networks, and opportunities for scholarship holders to participate in decision-making. The organization also shares publications, research, news, and spiritual reflections, and invites individuals to support its work through donations and other contributions.
