EXAVER is a program of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV) dedicated to research and development, and to administering a suite of three English-language certification examinations. Initially designed and developed with support from the British Council, Cambridge Assessment, and the University of Roehampton, the exams assess language proficiency against the international standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), rather than a particular curriculum or textbook. Its certifications serve learners at three levels: EXAVER 1 corresponds to basic A2 proficiency, EXAVER 2 to intermediate B1, and EXAVER 3 to upper-intermediate B2.
Successful candidates receive an EXAVER certificate that does not expire at UV. The examinations are also officially recognized by Mexico’s Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) as a national certification through the National Language Level Certification (CENNI) process. EXAVER provides information on exam requirements, costs, equivalencies, schedules, registration, test locations, and certificate verification, as well as preparation materials and tutorials.
It also offers in-house exam arrangements and activities for examiner training and recertification
