The Excellence Track in Algebra (ETA) is an academic enrichment program for master’s students in mathematics who want to specialize in algebra and engage with mathematical research during their studies. It complements master’s programs at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Goethe University Frankfurt, Heidelberg University, and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, connecting students across the four partner institutions.

ETA offers advanced lectures and seminars beyond the standard master’s curriculum, with opportunities to explore algebraic topics and current research. Students can build relationships with fellow participants and researchers through a cross-university academic network, shared retreats, workshops, and other events. The program also supports early connections with potential doctoral supervisors and helps participants prepare for further research and academic careers by introducing them to active research groups.

Successful participants receive a Certificate of Active Participation from the GAUS Graduate School, recognizing their additional academic work. The track is part of the GAUS Collaborative Research Center and is supported by the RMU Initiative Fund for Teaching.
