Exeter Dance Festival is an annual celebration dedicated to encouraging and showcasing young dancers. For more than 40 years, it has provided a stage for young people to share their talent and enthusiasm across a range of dance styles. The festival began as a two-day event at St George’s Hall, later expanded at the Barnfield Theatre, and moved to the Corn Exchange in 2013—a venue that began life as St George’s Hall.
The festival has become a qualifying heat for the All England Dance competition, which takes place every two years. It also runs its own Young Dancer competition, inviting professionals from across the dance world to teach young participants a solo in different genres. Past guest teachers have included Adam Cooper, Wayne Sleep, Brenda Last, Mark Silver and Frank Freeman. Through its festival and learning opportunities, Exeter Dance Festival aims to support and inspire the next generation of dancers.
