About Exploration
Exploration Place, also known as The Sedgwick County Science and Discovery Center, is Kansas' premier science center dedicated to inspiring a deeper interest in science and technology. As a mission-driven 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution, Exploration Place offers creative and fun experiences for all ages. Supported by admissions, membership dues, public support, and voluntary contributions, the center collaborates with Sedgwick County to provide exceptional public services in line with its mission.
With a rich history dating back to its establishment in 2000, Exploration Place was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie and funded through a public/private partnership involving various organizations, schools, universities, corporations, and youth groups. Today, Exploration Place continues to educate and entertain visitors through its diverse range of exhibits, live science shows, and special events. Whether you're interested in exploring the dark side of the moon or experiencing the excitement of the Drone Light Festival, Exploration Place offers something for everyone
