Exposure Security is an independent cybersecurity consultancy founded in 2014 by veteran CISO Jason Hengels. Born in Silicon Valley and serving more than 125 clients, the firm provides organizations with security leadership and practical expertise typically associated with large in-house teams. Its approach is practitioner-led, with a focus on understanding each client’s challenges and delivering targeted guidance.
Services include Virtual CISO leadership, adversary-grade penetration testing, managed security, and compliance support for SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and ISO 27001. Exposure Security also offers board-ready risk and security maturity assessments, security professionals who can integrate with client teams, secure-coding bootcamps, and security awareness training focused on emerging AI-related risks. The consultancy helps businesses evaluate their security posture, create risk-based plans, train staff, and work toward compliance objectives, including through tools such as Vanta and Drata.
In addition to client services, Exposure Security publishes executive briefings and blog content covering emerging threats, breaches, and security developments. Its briefings translate technical issues into business impacts and practical response guidance for organizational leaders.
