Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a global environmental movement dedicated to addressing the urgent Climate and Nature Emergency threatening our planet’s future. Established in 2018, XR seeks to inspire change through campaigns and Nonviolent Direct Action that pressure governments and corporations to take immediate action against climate change. With over 1,080 local groups across 40 countries, XR mobilizes a diverse network of individuals united by a shared commitment to ecological justice and the protection of all forms of life.

The movement operates on three main demands: to Tell The Truth about the climate crisis, to Act Now by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero, and to Decide Together by fostering a culture of participation through Citizens’ Assemblies. XR enables participation through peaceful actions, allowing supporters to engage in various ways, from street protests to creative outreach efforts. By emphasizing nonviolence and community, Extinction Rebellion strives to build a resilient, equitable future that prioritizes the health of our planet and society.
