About FairMail
FairMail is a social enterprise that aims to fight against child labor by empowering underprivileged teenagers through photography. Operating in Peru, India, and Morocco, FairMail teaches photography to these teenagers and produces fair-trade greeting cards with the pictures they capture. When these cards are sold, the photographers receive 60% of the profit, which they use to finance their education and build a better future for themselves.
FairMail is proud to be a women-owned and run social enterprise, led by directors Kira and Federica. Former FairMail photographers, Angeles and Anidela, now work as operational managers, overseeing the daily management of the production center in Peru. The organization's early history dates back to 2006 when it was founded by Dutch social entrepreneurs Janneke Smeulders and Peter den Hond.
Over the years, FairMail has achieved remarkable success, selling over 3 million cards and earning over 125,000€ for 42 photographers. FairMail's production center, Casi Casa, in Trujillo, Peru, is an eco-friendly complex that includes a photography school and volunteer accommodations, all built with sustainable materials. Choose FairMail and support a brand that is making a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged teenagers
