FAIRmat is creating a federated data infrastructure for data from the field of condensed-matter physics and the chemical physics of solids. Our aim is to make materials data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Re-purposable (FAIR). FAIRmat integrates data obtained from all areas of materials science: synthesis, experimental characterization, theory & computations, and various applications. We operate the NOMAD Laboratory, which offers cutting-edge tools for collecting, storing, presenting, and analyzing materials-science data. Our approach is centered around our users, and we reach out to the scientific community at all stages of development to ensure that our infrastructure meets their needs. We also offer a variety of workshops, tutorials and training materials aimed at researchers in all stages of their careers. FAIRmat is funded as a consortium of the German Research-Data Infrastructure NFDI and represents a broad community of researchers from universities and other leading institutions in Germany.

About FAIRmat
FAIRmat is a consortium of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), building a FAIR data infrastructure for condensed-matter physics and the chemical physics of solids. Its mission is to help researchers make their data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable by providing shared infrastructure, tools, and expertise. The initiative brings together partner institutions and organizes its work across seven areas covering synthesis, experiments, computation, infrastructure, use cases, training, and coordination.
A central part of FAIRmat’s work is developing the infrastructure for the NOMAD Laboratory, which connects institutes and research data. Through its online resources, FAIRmat supports the scientific community with data-management guidance, training materials, tutorials, videos, publications, and outreach activities. Its associated services include the NOMAD repository and archive, an encyclopedia, an AI Toolkit, and tools for working with metadata. FAIRmat also shares news, events, research outputs, and community success stories, and offers opportunities for researchers to participate in its activities. Together, these resources help advance responsible, reusable data practices across materials science.
