Fairtrade Max Havelaar, 1992 gegründet, ist eine gemeinnützige Stiftung mit Sitz in Zürich. Sie vergibt in der Schweiz das Fairtrade-Label für Produkte, die nach umfassenden sozialen und ökologischen Kriterien produziert und fair gehandelt werden. Derzeit sind hierzulande über 3000 Fairtrade-Produkte erhältlich. Ihr Verkauf ermöglicht höhere Einkommen und bessere Arbeitsbedingungen für Kleinbäuer:innen und Arbeiter:innen, die durch unfaire globale Handelspraktiken benachteiligt werden. Nebst der Zertifizierung bietet Fairtrade Max Havelaar eine Reihe von weiteren Dienstleistungen für Unternehmen in den Bereichen Nachhaltigkeit, Beschaffung und menschenrechtliche Sorgfaltsprüfung. Zusammen mit 24 weiteren nationalen Fairtrade-Organisationen sowie den drei Produzentennetzwerken aus Asien, Afrika und Südamerika ist Fairtrade Max Havelaar der Dachorganisation Fairtrade International angeschlossen. Diese legt u.a. die strengen Fairtrade-Standards bezüglich Anbau, Arbeiterrechte, Verarbeitung und Handel fest.
