About FairWinds
FairWinds is a map-based virtual sailing platform owned and operated by Fairlead Ventures LLC, bringing sailors together to race, train, and explore online. Users can compete in local and global races, create regattas and expeditions, or sail routes across detailed maps covering the world. The platform combines real-time global weather with high-resolution coastlines, 3D terrain and boats, and changing sunlight.
Navigation features include advanced routing, autopilot, custom boat polars, professional routing tools, and GPX and NMEA support. Selected regions also feature currents with routing support. FairWinds offers an integrated celestial navigation system, enabling sailors to take sights using the Sun, Moon, planets, and navigational stars, plot lines of position, and navigate on expeditions without GPS.
