Faith Based Institute

Faith Based Institute – House of Discipleship is a Christian organization in San Antonio, Texas, focused on recovery, spiritual growth, and restoring families. Established in 2007 as “Church in the Streets,” it was founded by Terrell Jackson, whose experiences overcoming addiction and incarceration inform the organization’s work. Its mission is to help men and women facing challenges such as substance use, homelessness, parole, or probation build new skills and reintegrate into society.

The institute offers a faith-based transitional residential program lasting six to twelve months, with options for participants to continue receiving training and support. Its services include individual recovery coaching, drug counseling, anger management, relapse prevention, recovery support groups, mentoring, discipleship classes, GED support, life skills and money management training, employment coaching, spiritual support, and family and marital counseling.

Alongside its recovery programs, the institute encourages prayer, Bible study, volunteering, and participation in small groups and church life. Its approach emphasizes service, personal responsibility, and faith as foundations for lasting change, helping participants strengthen their confidence, relationships, and ability to contribute to their communities.
