Fákur

Fákur is a volunteer-run local association based at Egemosegård in Farum, Denmark, bringing children and adults together around the Icelandic horse. Founded in 1978, it is one of Denmark’s oldest local associations devoted to the breed. Its community welcomes people who own a horse, ride someone else’s, or are simply curious about Icelandic horses.

Fákur offers group riding lessons and clinics for beginners and experienced riders, as well as shared rides through the woods and surrounding countryside. Junior activities are available for children and young people, with or without their own horse. Members can also take part in training for competitions and the association’s annual Fákur show. Activities are planned by members and announced on the association’s website and Facebook group.

Egemosegård provides the association’s base and setting for its activities, combining facilities, nearby nature and opportunities to connect. Fákur is sustained by volunteers, sponsors and supporters, whose contributions help keep its lessons, events and competitions running.
