Familiegeschiedenis. be is an online guide for anyone interested in family history and genealogy. Managed by Histories, the website helps visitors explore the past through historical documents, databases, and practical research advice.

Its five-step approach takes users from gathering memories and searching online to consulting archives, organizing findings, and turning a family tree into a meaningful story. The site features guidance on a wide range of historical sources, including parish memorials, records from the Arolsen Archives, and First World War travel permits for displaced people returning to Belgium. Themed dossiers offer deeper context, such as the history of queer identities and suggestions for tracing queer ancestors in archival sources.

Visitors can also read personal stories and interviews that provide inspiration for documenting family experiences. Educational materials and a downloadable toolkit help researchers keep information organized and take notes throughout their work. With resources for beginners and those ready to investigate further, Familiegeschiedenis.
