Familienzelt Berlin

Beratungsstelle Familienzelt is a Berlin-based counseling and support center in Prenzlauer Berg, run by the nonprofit association Selbstbestimmte Geburt und Familie. Its interdisciplinary team specializes in the transition to parenthood and supports people through pregnancy, birth, early parenthood, and experiences of loss and grief. Counseling is available for questions and concerns about pregnancy and life with a baby, as well as crises, difficult circumstances, postpartum depression, traumatic birth experiences, babies with special needs, miscarriage, and stillbirth. The center’s approach emphasizes strengthening each person’s own abilities and providing a space to discuss feelings, fears, and uncertainties.

Alongside individual counseling, Familienzelt offers groups for parents and children, parents of twins or other multiples, parents of premature babies, women in crisis or recovering from traumatic births, and bereaved parents. Many groups are professionally led and welcome new participants. Courses provide practical knowledge and confidence in caring for babies, support health, or encourage enjoyable shared activities. Examples include baby massage, infant and child first aid, PEKiP®, and SpielRaum based on Emmi Pikler.
