Familiesporen

Familiesporen is a storytelling project focused on tracing a compelling family history from the Second World War. Through videos and blog posts, it documents the search and connects personal family experiences with wider wartime events and dilemmas. The stories explore subjects including forced labor, Dutch students facing demands to sign loyalty declarations under German occupation, and life in wartime communities. Featured locations and episodes include Berlin, Camp Rehbrücke, Camp Erika, and Roermond in 1943.

The website brings these materials together in a chronological archive, with video stories, additional videos, articles, news, and information about the project. Some videos include German and English subtitles, helping make the story accessible to a broader audience. Alongside historical accounts, the blog offers reflections and practical advice, including reasons to keep a diary. Visitors can follow updates through the website and social channels such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and Facebook. Familiesporen invites audiences to follow the investigation and share its videos, encouraging interest in family history and the difficult choices people faced during wartime.
