Among our various rolls is to advocate for Mercury Free Gold Extraction through improved sluice technology, shaker tables, mercury retorts, ID registration, women and children issues, formalisation, safety gear and safety training, with the goal to make all of these resources available to all artisanal gold mining communities in East Africa. About Farmers of Gold
Farmers of Gold Kenya Gold Miners, a community-based organization (CBO) founded in 2018, advocates for Mercury-Free Gold Extraction in East Africa. Led by Chairman Simon Jaramba Odoyo, the organization focuses on providing improved sluice technology, shaker tables, mercury retorts, ID registration, women and children issues, formalization, safety gear, and training to artisanal gold mining communities. With over 4000 registered members in Lolgorian, Kenya, Farmers of Gold aims to raise awareness about the dangers of traditional gold extraction methods using mercury and cyanide.
Through partnerships with various entities like The Ministry of Petroleum & Mining and The Ministry of Environment, Farmers of Gold works towards promoting Mercury-Free gold processing.
