FASPA

FASPA, the Federation of Underwater Activities of the Principality of Asturias, is a nonprofit organization responsible for managing underwater sports across Asturias, Spain. It is affiliated with the Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities (FEDAS) and the World Underwater Federation (CMAS), affiliations that support its athletes in diving internationally. The federation’s website also notes that its members’ activities are currently covered by accident insurance issued by Helvetia.

Through its departments and network of more than 30 affiliated clubs, FASPA organizes competitions throughout the year. Most are regional events, while some are open, national, or international championships. Its sporting disciplines include underwater photography and video, spearfishing and apnea, and fin swimming. Member clubs provide opportunities to take part in underwater activities and offer courses in sport diving, spearfishing, and underwater photography. Training is delivered by instructors educated through FASPA’s school, with an emphasis on helping participants explore the underwater environment safely. FASPA also shares federation news, event information, and links to relevant sports and maritime resources.
