Fates of Steel

Fates of Steel is an independent strategy role-playing game currently in active development. Set on the world of Idün beneath a motionless red sun, it follows a human colony called Stroheim, whose people believe they were created by the Machines and must prove themselves worthy of returning to the paradise of Euler. That belief is challenged by a group of heretics able to hijack and control Machines from afar, setting the stage for a journey of discovery and conflict.

Gameplay combines exploration with strategic, turn-based combat. Players use remote-controlled drones to navigate the world, open new areas, uncover long-lost secrets, and collect machine parts. Those parts can be used to customize combat drones and expand the available tactical options. Encounters with mechanical Purgers take place at fixed map locations and can be chosen at the player’s discretion; difficult battles can be revisited later. The game emphasizes adaptation and experimentation, as strategies that work in one encounter may fail in another.
