The Caixa Agrícola do Noroeste Foundation (FCAN) is a social solidarity foundation in Portugal, rooted in the social work begun by the Monção Mutual Agricultural Credit Bank, established in 1915. Its primary purpose is to support the education, development and social inclusion of children and young people, and to protect older people, people with disabilities, and others facing reduced income or capacity to work. The foundation also promotes mutualism and cultural, educational, artistic, social and philanthropic initiatives. Its work is guided by solidarity, social justice, regional identity and respect for human rights.
FCAN provides support through study grants, funding for institutions, and assistance for artistic projects and social entrepreneurship, with application information and schedules available on its website. Its cultural programme includes exhibitions at the Galeria Noroeste and Galeria Noroeste Coura, as well as presentations, book publishing, performances and other events. The foundation also offers protocols and maintains a virtual library and online shop.
