FCTC

Fctc, now known as the Global Alliance for Tobacco Control (GATC), is an international organization that was established in 1999 and formalized in 2003. It is comprised of hundreds of organizations from over 100 countries. GATC's primary focus is on the development, ratification, and implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).

This treaty is the world's first modern-day global public health treaty and aims to reduce the devastating health and economic impacts of tobacco. In addition to its work on the FCTC, GATC also advocates for global tobacco control within the international health and development framework, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. GATC is governed by an elected Board of Directors and led by its executive director, who oversees staff including regional coordinators based in WHO regions.

GATC envisions a world where every person can live a healthy and equitable life free from the harmful consequences of tobacco. Their mission is to unite the global tobacco control community and act as the voice of civil society to accelerate the implementation of the FCTC. GATC operates based on the values of societal change, aiming to improve the health and development of society while upholding the fundamental right of every individual to the highest attainable standard of health and well-being
