FDI World Dental Federation

FDI World Dental Federation is an international organization representing more than one million dentists through its member associations across 132 countries. Its mission is to advance a world with optimal oral health and safeguard people’s health through better prevention, treatment, and control of oral diseases. FDI works with dental professionals and partners to raise awareness of oral health’s contribution to overall health and well-being, and to support the global dental profession through advocacy, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.

The organization provides educational resources, continuing education programmes, expert-developed oral health materials, and professional events, including the World Dental Congress and regional congresses. Its initiatives address topics such as antimicrobial resistance, HPV and oral health, mental well-being in dentistry, ageing, sustainability, tobacco cessation, and oral health care for refugees. FDI also advances policy through statements and advocacy on issues including sugar, noncommunicable diseases, universal health coverage, and the Minamata Convention. Its activities include World Oral Health Day, grants and awards, and the open-access International Dental Journal, which publishes peer-reviewed research.
