The International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN) is a pivotal global organization dedicated to advancing seismology research. Comprised of various groups responsible for the installation and maintenance of seismographs, FDSN fosters collaboration among its members, which include organizations operating multiple broadband stations. By coordinating station siting and ensuring open access to seismic data, FDSN significantly contributes to the understanding of earth sciences and global seismic activity.

FDSN is committed to providing high-quality data from its stations, aiming for an optimal geographical distribution and continuous data recording with 24-bit resolution at a minimum sampling rate of 20 samples per second. Notably, the organization played a crucial role in developing the Standard for Exchange of Earthquake Data (SEED) format, a universal standard for the distribution of broadband waveform data. In addition to its technical contributions, FDSN also assigns unique network codes for seismological data streams, enhancing the integrity and usability of seismic data worldwide.
