About Fedimedia
FediMedia Italia APS is a nonprofit association working to build a digital and social ecosystem where technology, rights and the environment can coexist. Formed through collaboration among organizations connected to free software and the Fediverse, it promotes digital sovereignty, privacy, decentralization, inclusion and sustainability as alternatives to dependence on major technology companies.
The association supports an Italian network of federated online services based on free software. These services connect independent social platforms, allowing people to follow and interact across communities while retaining choice over where their accounts are hosted. FediMedia also shares information and guidance about the Fediverse, privacy-respecting technologies and ethical digital alternatives through its website and social channels.
Its activities include raising awareness, supporting membership and encouraging public institutions to prioritize open-source solutions. The association collaborates with groups involved in digital rights, climate activism, independent information, Linux communities and free online services. Through articles, events and partnerships, FediMedia Italia APS advocates for a more open, transparent and sustainable internet that respects users’ data and fundamental rights.
