About FEMNET
The African Women’s Development and Communication Network, known as FEMNET, is a Pan-African feminist, membership-based network working to amplify African women’s voices and advance their needs and priorities in policy decisions. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, it convenes, organizes and facilitates dialogue on women’s human rights, seeking to influence outcomes at national, regional and global levels. FEMNET’s work focuses on climate justice and natural resource governance; transformative women’s leadership; sexual and reproductive health and rights; economic justice and rights; and meaningful engagement by African girls and young women.
The network supports advocacy, feminist solidarity and efforts to shift unequal power structures while building women’s influence in decision-making. Its resources include knowledge products, annual reports, press releases, FAQs and the Femininja and Dada Power podcasts. FEMNET also shares news, hosts and promotes events, and provides opportunities for members and partners to engage in policy and movement-building spaces.
The organization reports members across 50 African countries and reaches, mobilizes and informs women and girls on women’s rights
