FENPROF, the National Federation of Teachers in Portugal, represents educators across a broad range of sectors, including preschool, primary and secondary education, higher education and research, special education, teacher training, private education and retired teachers. It brings together affiliated unions and works to defend teachers’ professional interests and strengthen public education. The federation engages in collective bargaining, campaigns and advocacy on education policy, teachers’ careers, pay and working conditions.

Its work also addresses inclusive education, teacher shortages, school governance and other issues affecting students and education communities. FENPROF publishes news and information about negotiations, strikes, campaigns and developments in education, helping members and the public follow its activities. The organisation provides members with access to union benefits and supports professional and union development through the José Salvado Sampaio Training Centre.

It also maintains a documentation centre and publishes the Jornal da FENPROF. Through its sectoral departments and national initiatives, FENPROF represents educators in Portugal and participates in international education and labour networks
