Ferdinand Metz Art

Ferdinand Metz Art is the sculpture and visual art practice of Los Angeles–based artist Ferdinand Metz, creating distinctive works from repurposed and upcycled found objects. Inspired by Art Deco, vintage design, and retro-futuristic visions of the future, Metz combines salvaged materials with automotive references and a particular interest in light. His work includes rockets, robots, science-fiction pieces, automotive art, illuminated sculptures, and kinetic wind sculptures. Many sculptures feature animated lighting, with videos available to show the effects in motion.

Metz draws on a background in visual effects, prop-making, and lighting for the film industry, as well as studies in motion graphics and visual effects at the California Institute of the Arts. His creative influences include vintage cars, planes, trains, motorcycles, toys, and the inventive spirit of Hollywood. The website presents new and sold sculptures, videos, galleries, and information about exhibitions and locations where his art can be seen. Ferdinand Metz Art also offers commission inquiries and prop and movie rental information, giving collectors, art enthusiasts, and production teams ways to engage with the work.
