Festival da Sardinha is a major annual food and cultural festival held in Portimão, Portugal, celebrating the region’s well-loved grilled sardines. Its 30th edition took place from 4 to 9 August 2026 across the city’s riverside area, bringing together visitors for six days of food, music, entertainment and social gatherings. The festival’s signature offering is sardines grilled and served on bread, alongside an atmosphere shaped by live celebration and a strong sense of community.

In 2026, the event recorded 145,729 entries, while visitors consumed more than two and a half tonnes of sardines. These figures reflect the festival’s broad appeal and its place among the region’s and country’s most emblematic gastronomic events. The organizers’ message emphasizes that the festival is about more than its celebrated food: it is also made possible by the people who attend and contribute year after year.
