EQUIS Festival de Cine Feminista de Ecuador is the first feminist film festival in Ecuador, offering a unique platform for independent and international cinema. This non-competitive festival showcases high-quality independent films that highlight the diverse realities experienced by girls and women of different ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, and other identities. By doing so, EQUIS sparks discussions and challenges gender stereotypes and other forms of violence, promoting equality in rights, opportunities, and freedoms.

In addition to the film festival, EQUIS also operates as a non-profit organization that actively promotes feminism through the art of cinema. They are currently running an open call for audiovisual filmmakers residing in Ecuador with feminist-oriented feature film projects in the development stage. This call is part of their LABORATORIO DE DESARROLLO DE PELÍCULAS FEMINISTAS.
