Festival of Choirs is a UK-based organisation that brings choirs and individual singers from around the world together to perform choral music in historic British settings. Founded by former Cambridge boy choristers and choral and organ scholars Alex Trigg and Graham Walker, the festival draws on Cambridge’s tradition of choral excellence. Its programmes welcome high school, university and amateur choirs, as well as individuals who can join the Festival Chorus without bringing a full choir.
The festivals combine group singing, musical collaboration and the opportunity to experience the distinctive atmosphere of the host city. Participants perform in some of the UK’s beautiful historic buildings and share the experience with singers from different countries and generations. Festival of Choirs also offers guest appearances by prominent choral figures; the Cambridge 2027 festival lists composer Sir John Rutter and conductor David Hill MBE as guests of honour, in association with Cambridge University Schola Cantorum.
