Sunsation is a small-scale cultural festival organized by Stichting Zonnewende Flevoland, bringing together poetry, music, theatre and the landscape art of Flevoland. Held each year around the summer solstice, the festival takes place at the Observatorium, an artwork by Robert Morris set in the province’s open, flat countryside. Its intimate, personal atmosphere and emphasis on quality are complemented by a varied programme of performances and readings.
The landscape and the natural setting are central to the experience, with sunrise around the longest day of the year providing a distinctive backdrop. Admission is free, making the event accessible to visitors who want to enjoy a mix of artistic disciplines in an outdoor setting. The festival’s website shares programme and practical information, including details for the 2027 edition, identified as its 45th.
It also offers a newsletter for updates. By combining culture, land art and the surroundings of Flevoland, Sunsation creates a gathering shaped by both its performances and its remarkable location
