About — FeuxFrance
FeuxFrance is an independent observatory of vegetation fires in metropolitan France. Its website helps people explore where fires occur, how fire activity changes over time, and what the latest data may mean for communities and the environment. Visitors can view current fires, forest-weather information, historical maps, departmental summaries, trends, and estimated impacts.
Interactive maps show satellite detections by year and location, while commune pages provide fire histories dating back to 2012 and indicate how often an area has experienced fires. The site also presents annual burned-area comparisons and explains the methods, limitations, and sources behind its figures. These include EFFIS measurements of the actual perimeters of fires larger than 30 hectares, NASA FIRMS and BDIFF data, and Copernicus modeling for emissions and fine particles.
FeuxFrance distinguishes measured data from modeled or estimated impacts and notes important caveats, including incomplete information about fire causes. Users can search for a commune, explore departmental data, share information, and sign up to be notified if a fire occurs
