About FairwindsEstateWinery
Fairwinds Estate Winery, situated in the picturesque hills of Calistoga, is a renowned destination winery along the iconic Silverado Trail in Napa Valley. Steeped in history, it was the 4th winery established in Napa Valley after Prohibition. Originally founded in 1969 by Silicon Valley engineers Thomas Cotrell and Thomas Parkhill, the winery has since changed hands, each owner contributing to its legacy.
In 1974, New York publisher Oakleigh Thorne took over and appointed renowned winemaker Philip Togni. The winery then came under the ownership of the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland in 1979, who operated it for 36 years. In 2015, San Francisco entrepreneurs Brandon Chaney and Anthony Zabit purchased the winery, bringing their passion for the Fairwinds lifestyle brand to the world.
In 2020, the winery faced adversity when it suffered damage in the Glass Fire. However, the wine inventory and production were spared in the underground wine caves. The brave firefighters of Engine 559 of the Fremont Fire Department even rescued the American Flag amidst the blaze.
Plans are now underway to rebuild and create an iconic architectural statement on the property. Currently, Fairwinds Estate Winery invites guests to immerse themselves in a unique wine experience within their magnificent 22,000 sq. Lined with thousands of barrels, the cave houses the dining room and intimate alcoves for special events and live performances.
Private events can be arranged, offering an unforgettable experience. The brand is led by a team of passionate individuals, including Executive Officers Brandon Chaney and Anthony Zabit. Executive Winemaker Todd Heth's expertise and dedication to old-world winemaking practices have led to award-winning wines with industry acclaim.
