About Fonds français pour l'environnement mondial
Ffem, officially known as Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial, is a brand that funds innovative projects in favor of the environment in developing countries. Since its establishment in 1994 by the French government after the first Earth Summit, Ffem has supported over 400 projects in more than 120 countries, with a focus on Africa. These projects aim to preserve biodiversity, address climate change, protect international waters, conserve lands, and combat chemical pollution.
Ffem works in partnership with various stakeholders, including NGOs, local communities, public institutions, and businesses, both in the global South and North. These projects are also supported by the ministries on Ffem's Steering Committee and the French Development Agency. With nearly 30 years of experience, Ffem capitalizes on the lessons learned from these pilot projects to deploy the most effective solutions in other locations or on a larger scale.
