About Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure
The Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII) is a European alliance dedicated to safeguarding your right to free and competitive software creation. Established in 1999, our mission is to mitigate legal risks in software development. We accomplish this by advocating for software that is free from patents and advocating for a digital infrastructure built on genuine open standards, as well as free and open hardware and software.
The FFII has made a significant impact in preventing the implementation of an EU software patent directive. We consistently shine a light on the patent system's attempts to infiltrate the software industry and evade democratic and fiscal oversight. One notable example is the Unified Patent Court (UPC), a specialized court that aims to isolate patent reforms.
As a member-driven organization, we work collaboratively with the European Parliament and other stakeholders to protect innovation and ensure a fair and competitive software landscape. Join us in our mission to uphold the principles of a free and open information infrastructure
