Föreningen Förintelsens Överlevande i Sverige (the Association of Holocaust Survivors in Sweden) is a nationwide association founded in 1992 by Holocaust survivors and their children. With approximately 650 members, it works to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and share its history with future generations. Its activities focus particularly on school students: association members visit schools to give personal testimony, explain the history and consequences of antisemitism, and discuss contemporary racism and xenophobia with pupils.
The association also produces video testimonies from survivors, contributes to educational resources, and has cooperated with the Swedish government’s Living History project. It initiated the Monument to the Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Stockholm. Through its fund, “Do Not Forget Us,” it supports initiatives that preserve Holocaust memory and oppose antisemitism and Holocaust denial. The association also works against neo-Nazism, discrimination, and intolerance, promotes peaceful coexistence, and represents members in contacts with authorities and institutions. In recent years, it has helped advance compensation for Holocaust victims.
