The Federation of Indigenous Apiculturists (FIA) is a distinguished not-for-profit NGO based in Kerala, with over 2,500 life members dedicated to the art of beekeeping. Established on March 26, 2008, FIA is recognized under the Travancore – Cochin Charitable Societies Act, and associated with the National Bee Board and National Biodiversity Authority of India. FIA aims to enhance agricultural productivity through effective crop pollination and the promotion of sustainable beekeeping practices.
FIA offers various services, including skill development in apiculture and meliponiculture, advisory support for apiary management, and disease-free bee colonies. Additionally, FIA focuses on technology dissemination for high-quality honey production and marketing of honey and hive products, ensuring they reach both local and international markets.
With an ambitious goal to train 10,000 stingless beekeepers and establish a honey processing facility, FIA is committed to improving the livelihoods of beekeepers while promoting the medicinal benefits of honey, thus enhancing both sustainability and economic security for farming communities in Kerala.
