Fiber Mtaani is a skills-development initiative and flagship program of Wekkitech, a connectivity and digital infrastructure company focused on closing the digital divide. It addresses a practical challenge in expanding reliable internet access: networks need trained local technicians who can install, maintain, and scale them. The program equips young people with hands-on technical abilities in fiber optics, network infrastructure, and digital entrepreneurship, helping build a sustainable workforce for connectivity projects, particularly in rural communities across sub-Saharan Africa.

Its courses include Fiber Optic Basics and Troubleshooting, Fiber Design and Planning, ethical and professional field practices for technicians, and fiber optic safety and live-line training. Through practical instruction, Fiber Mtaani aims to prepare participants for work supporting fiber networks and internet service providers. The wider Wekkitech effort also includes Femtech Pathways, which supports women seeking opportunities in digital and technical sectors. Fiber Mtaani offers training cohorts, a courses portal, and opportunities to connect with its team and partners. Its mission combines skills development with community-driven solutions to make inclusive connectivity more sustainable.
