Fibra operates an open municipal fibre-optic network serving Västerås, Hallstahammar and Strängnäs, Sweden. It builds, maintains and develops the infrastructure that carries broadband and television services, connecting homes, apartment buildings and business properties. The network is managed on behalf of its owners: Mälarenergi, Hallstahammar Municipality and SEVAB Strängnäs Energi.

Fibra gives customers a choice of providers rather than selling services through a single exclusive supplier. Its open network offers around 100 subscription options from roughly 20 providers, covering broadband, TV and telephony. Customers can compare plans, select a suitable speed and change provider if their needs evolve. Fibra also helps residents check whether their property can be connected and order equipment and subscriptions.

For housing associations and other property groups, the company offers group agreements for shared TV and broadband services. Businesses and operators can access fibre, internet, dark fibre, capacity and wavelength solutions.
