About Agenzia Fides
Agenzia Fides, established on June 5, 1927, is the first Missionary Agency of the Church and one of the oldest Agencies in the world, serving the purpose of providing information and promoting missionary animation. The agency was founded by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, with the aim of spreading knowledge about missions to the people of God through media, in order to foster missionary cooperation through vocations, spiritual communion, and material means. In addition to publishing news and photographs in missionary magazines, Agenzia Fides also serves the non-missionary press worldwide.
The agency is responsible for studying and reporting on the situations of missions, as well as religious and social topics in mission territories. Approved by the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, Agenzia Fides began its operations in December 1927, after the feast of St. Francis Xavier, the Patron Saint of missions.
