About Film New Europe
Brand Description: Lea Podhradská, a talented Slovak-Hungarian director/writer, is currently working on an engaging and thought-provoking creative documentary called My Father's Daughter / Apám lánya. The film, a Hungarian/Slovak coproduction, delves into the mysterious disappearance of Lea's sister from Slovakia 27 years ago. Through this documentary, Lea takes viewers on a deeply personal and emotional journey, blending past and present and presenting the choices made by the characters involved.
Despite the seriousness of the subject matter, the film approaches it in a playful manner, incorporating family and archival material, as well as the fantasy stories Lea created about her sister as a child. Blurring the line between truth and deception, memory and reality, My Father's Daughter is an exploration of altered memories and the power of storytelling. With production and marketing support from the National Film Institute - Hungary and Kultminor, this documentary, with a budget of 176,800 EUR, is set to be completed in July 2024.
