A Fundação de Empreendimentos Científicos e Tecnológicos (Finatec) foi instituída em 13 de março de 1992, por 12 (doze) professores da Universidade de Brasília (UnB) das áreas de Engenharia Mecânica, Engenharia Elétrica e Física. A Finatec é uma Fundação de apoio que tem a finalidade de promover e apoiar o desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico, a transferência de tecnologia, a pós-graduação e a pesquisa. Em 2000, foi criado o primeiro Programa de Fomento que garantiu, ao longo desses 17 anos, o apoio a mais de 2 mil professores e alunos de pós-graduação, transformando a Finatec em referência nacional como Fundação de ciência e tecnologia a serviço do desenvolvimento da pesquisa no País. A vivência acadêmica e o constante intercâmbio com instituições similares permitem colocar os produtos e serviços oferecidos pela Finatec, em um padrão elevado de qualidade, confiabilidade e precisão metodológica.
