About TattsFinkeDesertRace
Tatts Finke Desert Race is a non-profit sporting organization that hosts one of the biggest annual sporting events in the Northern Territory. This two-day off-road race takes place in the remote desert country, starting from Alice Springs and ending at the small Aputula (Finke) Community. The race spans a challenging 460km course and crosses the Finke River, believed to be the oldest river in the world.
The event is open to all competitors, with over 600 participants racing each year. It is recognized as the richest Off-Road Race in Australia and is known for its difficulty and remote location. In addition to bikes, cars and off-road buggies also compete for the title of King of the Desert.
The event attracts massive community support, with more than 12,000 people camping beside the racetrack during the race weekend. Tatts Finke Desert Race is organized and run by a local committee consisting of dedicated volunteers who strive to make the event the best it can be. The organization relies on individual/corporate sponsors, business partners, community groups, and volunteers to bring this thrilling event to life
