About Fire Adapted Network
The Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network (FAC Net) is a collaborative group that supports and connects people and communities working on wildfire resilience. Their mission is to provide community-based leaders with resources, tools, and connections to reduce wildfire risk and increase community resilience. FAC Net is dedicated to shaping socio-ecological relationships, creating fire cultures that allow fire to play its natural role while protecting people and assets.
They combine on-the-ground project work with professional development, peer learning, coaching, and strategic planning to achieve better fire outcomes. FAC Net values long-term investment in local leadership and believes that transforming relationships with fire requires more than monetary investment or one-time training. They also provide historical context on the FAC Learning Network and display the impact of their work through annual reports.
FAC Net is operated by staff in California, Colorado, and Washington State, with support from advisors and affiliated researchers. The network is stewarded by The Watershed Research and Training Center and funded through a collaborative partnership with The Nature Conservancy, USDA Forest Service, and the Department of the Interior
