First Night State College is an annual celebration that has been bringing people together since its inception in 1994. This event is a part of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and aims to promote the performing and visual arts as catalysts for unity and community participation on New Year's Eve. Originating from the first First Night in Boston in 1976, this festival has evolved over the years to become a cherished tradition in State College.

With the support of PNC Bank, the Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages, the Borough of State College, and downtown churches, the inaugural First Night featured performances, resolution sculptures, a giant puppet procession, ice sculptures, and ice skating. Today, First Night State College has expanded to include a wide range of activities and attractions. Whether you're interested in joining the 5K Resolution Run, admiring the intricate ice sculptures, enjoying a show, or participating in the Holiday Decorations Contest, there's something for everyone.

And with over 90 one-block ice sculptures and a vibrant Grand Procession, the festivities have only grown more exciting.
